WMPod is a plugin for Windows Media Player which allows you to manage your iPod, including the creation of playlists/videolists. Queue up your music and/or playlists, and reorder the play order directly from within Windows Media Player.

The way you view your music is up to you, sort by Artist, Genre, Album, or even group similar songs together. Drag and drop MP3 music into wmPod to transfer it onto your iPod.

Quickly find songs/video on your iPod using Word Wheel technology. You will be blown away with how quickly you will navigate through your massive music collection by simply typing a few keywords. These keywords can be based anything from the artists name, genre, composer or song title.

Troubleshooting

1. Windows Media Player complains that it cannot play a song

You will not be able to play songs which have been purchased from the iTunes Music Store. These songs are encrypted with Apple's FairPlay DRM (Digital Rights Management) and cannot be decrypted by wmPod, or supporting Codec's.

The first time you play a song on your iPod via Windows Media Player, you may receive a message which states that the song may not play correctly. This is normal, simply check the "Don't tell me again" option and continue.

2. No songs appear on my iPod, or iTunes complains that it can no longer use it.

In very rare cases an iPod database can become corrupt.

In the event of this occuring you can restore your iPod from a backup you have made previously (via the Backup menu option), by clicking on the Restore menu option within the program.

You can access these menu options by right-clicking on your iPod within the left-hand panel within wmPod.

If you do not have a current backup, restore your ipod to it's original state (the point in time you first ran wmPod), but holding the SHIFT key down and clicking on the Restore menu option.

3. All my transferred songs disappear when I run iTunes

Generally this occurs when synchronization is enabled within iTunes. iTunes assumes that if the music on your iPod cannot be found on your computer, you are no longer interested in listening to it. It then proceeds to delete these songs off your iPod.

Resolution:
1. Right click on iPod within iTunes, select "iPod Options...".
2. Under the Music Tab, select "Manually manage songs and playlists".

Note:
The iPod Shuffle does not have this option. The only way to retain music is not to run iTunes while your Shuffle is connected to your computer.
